The
Saret Gallery of Sonoma offers an extensive selection
of work by established photographers and emerging artists. Our expertise
is available to the full spectrum of collectors - from the novice to
those with highly prized collections.
Amy
Saret, the owner and director of the Saret Gallery has been active
member of
the fine art photography community since 1982. In 1982, she opened The Photographer's
Gallery of Palo Alto. At the end of 1999 Amy and her husband decided to leave
the hectic life of Palo Alto and move to a more rural area where she opened
her new gallery in Sonoma, California.
Amy was greatly influenced by her friendship with Ansel Adams and
promised him that she would always be committed to
showing contemporary work. Her first show was an exhibit of his work. Since
then Amy has added vintage and early work to her exhibits but still
concentrates on contemporary work.
In
May of 2001 she curated the first photography exhibit at the Sonoma
Valley Museum of Art. "From
Wet Plate to Ink Jet" was a retrospective of California photography
from the 1860's to the year 2001.
In
March 2003 she curated a major retrospective of Harry Callahan's
work at the Sonoma Valley Museum
of Art.
